Militant groups set a relief mission and protest caravan vs Large Scale Mining in Cordillera and San Roque Dam in Pangasinan

Kalikasan People's Network for the Environment and Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN), with science, church, youth and health groups will set on  Lakbayan para sa Kalikasan Laban sa Large Scale Mining at San Roque Dam on November 5-6. Aside from bringing relief goods and medical assistance to several towns in Pangasinan and Baguio, the group will launch a mobile sign up drive calling for the decomissing of the San Roque Dam.

The assembly of more than a dozen vehicles will be at the National Housing Authority (NHA), Elliptical Road, Q.C. on Nov 5 which marks 40 days since the typhoon Ondoy and more than 1 month since Pepeng.

Caravan Highlights

November 5, 2009, Thursday

·   Assembly of Lakbayan para sa Kalikasan Laban sa Large Scale Mining at San Roque Dam, Metro Manila contingent at NHA, elliptical road and departure, 6 am

·    BAYAN-Central Luzon contingent will join the caravan at Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac

·    Protest program at Urdaneta City, Pangasinan

·   Relief and medical mission to benefit 1500 families in 4 barangays of San Nicolas, Pangasinan: Calanutian, Cabuloan, San Isidiro with the centralized program and distribution at San Rafael

November 6, 2009, Friday

·       Arrival and program at Peoples park Baguio city, 9 am

·       Relief mission to 600 families in Barangay Irisan and Fairview, Baguio City
